Now that summer is underway, have you made good progress towards your goals?  Many grad students are dissertating and thinking about preparing for the job market in the fall.  Others (whether at dissertation stage or not) may also want to learn more about nonacademic fields, and develop a versatile job search strategy.

A great way to define and stick to your goals is in the community of others who are invested in your success.  Join Director of Academic Advising and Engagement Maria Wisdom and some of your graduate student peers for one or both online topical discussions this month.

There will be optional online followup sessions scheduled in July (to track progress).

Monday, June 26, 10:00-11:30am

Preparing for (or just thinking about) the nonacademic job market

Participants will set the direction of the conversation, but we may discuss the following topics:

  • Where do I even start?
  • Researching other fields, discerning a good fit
  • Networking
  • Preparing job materials (resumes, online presence)

To participate, send an email to Maria.Wisdom@Duke.edu, indicating the session date and topic.  We’ll send you the videoconferencing  link.
